About
ARIA Award-winning film composer Helena Czajka blends her classical training from Australia and her work as an orchestrator in Tokyo, with a passion for sound design and electronic textures.
Helena has composed the music for acclaimed productions including the 2024 sci-fi thriller feature film IN VITRO, the winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at both Tribeca Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival, BLIND AMBITION. Helena wrote the music for the 2024 Logie-nominated ABC political documentary series NEMESIS, the 2023 award-winning SBS drama series SAFE HOME, the 2020 Walkley Documentary Award-winning series REVELATION, as well as episodes of the Emmy-winning hit children’s show BLUEY.
Helena has received a nomination at the upcoming 2024 ARIA Awards for Best Original Music Soundtrack for the ABC documentary series NEMESIS.
Helena received a 2023 ARIA Award nomination in the category of Best Original Soundtrack or Musical Theatre Cast Album for UNSEEN SKIES. Helena crafted the music for this feature documentary by manipulating NASA-recorded sounds from space to create a distinctive and experimental score.
Helena also received a 2023 APRA Screen Music Award nomination in the category of Best Music for a Television Series or Serial for the score she composed for the SBS drama series SAFE HOME.
Helena won an ARIA Award in 2021 for Best Children's Album and an APRA Screen Music Award for Best Soundtrack Album for her work on BLUEY: THE ALBUM. The album debuted at #3 on the US iTunes Charts and made history as the first ever children’s album to reach #1 on the Australian ARIA Charts.
Previous award nominations include Best Music in a TV Series at the APRA Screen Music Awards for her work on the AACTA Award-winning Network Ten series AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR.
Previous work includes the feature film BEAST that received its premiere at Toronto International Film Festival, the Foxtel series THE QUEEN AND ZAK GRIEVE, the ABC documentary MAKING MURIEL, and LOOK ME IN THE EYE for SBS.
Helena obtained an Honours degree in Music Composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Helena is a member of The Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) and holds an AACTA Professional Membership.
